How Does Structural Correction Work?

Chiropractors help in addressing the cause of health issues, pain and discomfort experienced by patients. There is a structural and traditional process in performing this technique. The traditional approach is the primary source of chiropractic care practices, in which it lessens the patient's pain and increases movement in their back. The structural chiropractic method goes deeper in restoring the function of the spine than most traditional means.

When it comes to structural correction, chiropractors don't just focus on the secondary symptoms or conditions the patient is experiencing. They also focus on the foundation of the spine itself. Depending on the signs, chiropractors will make a treatment plan suited for the patient. They will then examine and realign the vertebrae by adjusting each bone and retraining the ligaments, muscles, nerves, and tendons.

Structural correction takes a more scientific method in identifying the spine's structure by utilizing the four types of analysis. This way, they can create a plan and schedule further consultations to choose the best treatment plan for their patients.

The Examination and Therapy

Chiropractic doctors will guide their patients through a clear picture of their first analysis. They will discuss the past health and medical history that is significant to their condition. If the pain is caused by daily work or an accident, chiropractic doctors will take down everything to provide the patient with the most suited treatment plan and the best care they need. After the initial consultation, a chiropractor will examine the patients through the following means:

  • Posture Analysis
  • Range of Motion Assessment
  • Surface Electromyography
  • X-Ray and Analysis

These methods will analyze if there is a structural shift in the patient's spine, causing them pain and discomfort. The X-ray analysis can also be done to inform the chiropractic doctor of the general and specific regions of misalignment.

Once you know the real problem and the cause of pain, your choice usually comes down to 1) do nothing, 2) medication, surgery and Physical Therapy to retrain the spine afterwards, or 3) corrective chiropractic and its modalities for far less cost. You can choose to consult with chiropractors for a specialized care plan. Structural correction might be performed through these methods:

  • Structural Chiropractic Adjustments
  • Spinal Decompression
  • Rehabilitation through exercises and stretching
  • Structural soft tissue reconstruction
  • Orthotics
  • Nutritional guidance
